Shadow & Silver: Folklore Puppet Workshop with Jenny Brook

A new workshop has just been added to our workshop and guided walks programme. The workshop will take place on the morning of Sunday 28th september at Allendale Library.

Step into the flickering lantern-light of Allendale’s lead mines and discover the shadows that danced in the minds of the miners and their families. Join us to craft your own shadow puppets inspired by local folklore — the whispers, wolves and wild imaginings that haunted the dark tunnels deep underground and beyond.

This workshop is free and open to all and all ages (under 16s accompanied by an adult please) but booking is essential via the link as places are limited.

The Allen Valleys Folk Festival has been awarded a community grant for lead mining inspired creative workshops by the North Pennines National Landscape team through the Land of Lead and Silver project, which is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England.
