Allen Valleys Folk Festival 2014

THE STORY SO FAR

Established in 2014, Allen Valleys Folk Festival is a three day event at the end of September each year.  In 2017 we staged fifteen live performances, ran eleven workshops and encouraged lots of spontaneous music making in pubs and outdoor spaces. We achieved capacity audiences with 60% of tickets bought locally. Last year we launched our Youth Folk Award for under 21s and devised a spectacular community event in Allendale Market Square - the burning of a wooden sculpture representing the legendary Allendale Wolf. This all required huge year-round volunteer effort. A big thank you to all those volunteers and also to The North Pennines AONB Partnership who secured Heritage Lottery funding for our first four years. In this our fifth year, we’re out to prove that Allen Valleys Folk Festival is truly sustainable and we’re grateful for your support in helping us achieve this. Those of you at our programme launch gig on May 13th are aware of this year's line-up which we'll share online by the end of May. Watch this space!

This year's festival dates are Friday Sept 28th - Sunday Sept 30th.

Check out the image and video of The Allendale Wolf, who made his first, brief appearance at last year's festival.
